Agriculture Engineering

Agricultural engineers design farm equipment and agricultural machinery. They also work with conservation, soil and water for agricultural production and processing and sale of agricultural products.

Agricultural Engineering is the engineering discipline that seeks to apply the science of engineering to agricultural and livestock production. In some circles it is commonly accepted that the field of agricultural engineering is broader than all other forms of engineering, combining elements of mechanical, chemical, civil and plant and animal biology.

Agricultural engineers works to improve the quality and safety of farm animals and crops. These positions are often found in universities and research labs. Agricultural operations are improving the technology of agricultural machinery to increase the quantity and quality of goods, the search for cures for diseases that affect livestock and crops, and the discovery of more effective methods to control pests. A strong background in science, mathematics and is required for this.

Agricultural engineers usually work in government offices to establish and implement the requirements of safety and health for the food supply. These engineers to ensure that farms and processing plants are following the proper procedures for food safety. This usually involves the testing of animal diseases harmful to the inspection of food and dangerous microbes and other contaminants.
